At October 9th 2012 Uganda celebrated 50 Years of National Independence.
The DINE Ministries team had the wonderful opportunity to attend the anniversary at Nelson Mandela Stadium Kampala. The program started at October 8th at afternoon until the next day, the official Independence Day.
The responsibility for this celebration was carried out by an inter-denominational team of leaders from various Ugandan churches, cooperating in the Uganda Jubilee Network.
Revival is still alive in Uganda. Since years committed Christians prepared this special event through prayers and fasting, to dedicate their nation to God at Independence Day. Spiritual, political and community leaders from all tribes and national districts gathered, to thank and praise God, to pray for forgiveness of sins and God's blessings upon the land and the people, according to the Bible in Nehemiah 9.
Especially the young generation was addressed to take responsibilities in this new start, using their resources wisely to build and develop a good foundation, leading the nation into a better future.
The special highlight in this celebration was the visit of the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni together with his wife, the First Lady Mrs. Jane at around 2:00 at night. Both shared a brief message before Mr. President prayed for the Nation. Officially he confessed the sins of the nation, of past and current governments, asking God for forgiveness. He renounced all evil influences, idolatry, corruption and other destroying powers. Then he dedicated the Nation and made a covenant with the one true God for Uganda with a request for His blessings.
The white flag of the United Churches of Uganda was hoisted, then the flag of the Nation.
Several months earlier the national flag had already been handed over into the hands of the united Churches of Uganda, sharing the responsibility and destiny of the Nation with the Church of Christ.
A frenetic shout of joy from hundreds of voices filled the stadium, singing with Judy Jacobs the celebration song: „These are the days of Elijah (Year of Jubilee)“ and proclaiming loud:
There’s no God like Jehovah!
A nation was dancing and celebrating God’s grace, faithfulness and a new beginning at this Jubilee day. Many Independence feasts took place in all Ugandan districts, not only in the capital Kampala.

9. Oktober 2012 - Uganda feiert den 50. Jahrestag der nationalen Unabhängigkeit.
Als DINE Ministries Team hatten wir die einzigartige Gelegenheit, an dieser Jubiläumsfeier im Nelson Mandela Stadion Kampala teilzunehmen. Das Programm begann am 8.10. nachmittags und dauerte bis in den nächsten Tag hinein, dem offiziellen Unabhängigkeitstag.
Verantwortlich für die Gestaltung der Jubiläumsfeier war Uganda Jubilee Network, ein überkonfessionelles Leitungsteam verschiedener Kirchen Ugandas, die zusammenarbeiten.
Die geistliche Erweckung ist immer noch lebendig in Uganda. Gläubige Christen hatten seit Jahren in Gebet und Fasten auf das Ziel hingearbeitet, an diesem Jubiläumstag ihre Nation Gott zu weihen. Geistliche, politische und gesellschaftliche Führungskräfte aus allen Distrikten und Stämmen des Landes versammelten sich, um Gott zu loben und zu danken, um Vergebung der Sünden zu bitten und Gottes Segen für das Land und seine Bewohner, vergleichbar mit dem biblischen Bericht in Nehemia 9.
Besonders die Jugend wurde angesprochen, als Verantwortungsträger der Zukunft diesen Neubeginn zu leben und aktiv zu gestalten.
Höhepunkt im Stadion war der Besuch des ugandischen Präsidenten Yoweri Museveni mit seiner Frau, der First Lady Janet, ca.2.00h nachts. Beide hielten eine kurze Ansprache und der Präsident betete für die Nation. Herr Präsident betete für die Nation, bekannte öffentlich die Sünden der Nation, vergangener und gegenwärtiger Regierungen, bat Gott um Vergebung und sagte allen bösen Einflüssen, Götzendienst, Korruption und anderen zerstörenden Mächte ab. Dann weihte er die Nation und schloss einen Bund mit dem einen wahren Gott für Uganda mit der Bitte um Seinen Segen.
Die weiße Flagge der vereinten Kirchen Ugandas wurde gehisst, dann die Flagge der Nation.
Bereits Monate zuvor hatte Präsident Museveni die nationale Flagge den vereinten Kirchen Ugandas übergeben und damit Verantwortung und Schicksal des Landes mit in die Hände der Christen gelegt.
Ein gewaltiger Jubel tausender Menschen erfüllte das Stadion. Mit Judy Jacobs sangen alle das Mottolied des Jahres: „These are the days of Elijah (Year of Jubilee)“ und proklamierten laut:
„There's no God like Jehovah!“ - "Es ist kein Gott wie Jehovah!"
So tanzte und feierte eine Nation Gottes Güte, Treue und den Neubeginn mit Ihm an diesem Jubeltag. Nicht nur in der Hauptstadt Kampala sondern in allen Distrikten des Landes gab es Feiern zur Unabhängigkeit.
